So what ? Apart from a good cross now and then and set pieces he is quite useless. Lennon already is a better player,Shaun Wright-Phillips is another option ( a very offensive one ) and Jermaine Pennant will be another when he continues to play as good as he did in his first competitive match for Liverpool. I honestly believe England will be better off without Beckham.

I agree with you but don't forget, he's like a poster boy for the entire country. Without him England fans around the world (except the actual British) will lose interest quickly.

Although I doubt this will happen, still interesting:

QUOTE

After signing the Juventus duo of Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Inter chief Massimo Moratti is reportedly eyeing a move for Gigi Buffon.

Stories in the peninsula on Friday suggest that the Via Durini outfit expressed an interest in the world champion during negotiations for Ibra’s transfer on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri are understood to have offered the Old Lady almost £13m and veteran ‘keeper Francesco Toldo in return for the current Italian No 1.

Although Buffon has pledged his future to the Bianconeri outfit he could be tempted by the opportunity of competing for the Scudetto and playing in the Champions League this term.

Juventus have declared that the player is untransferable, but may now consider the option of letting him go if Inter striker Julio Cruz were to be included in the move.

Moratti’s club, who take on Juventus tonight in a three-team tournament along with Napoli, is now considering Juve’s request for Cruz to be included in any proposed deal for the custodian.

It’s unclear, though, whether the 32-year-oold Argentine would accept Second Division football – even with La Vecchia Signora.

Milan are also still in the race to sign Buffon and are seemingly waiting to make an offer after their Champions League preliminary round tie against Red Star Belgrade on August 23.

Juventus fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Buffon doesn’t move on to Inter as the Tuttosport newspaper, based in Turin, outlined today.

Their front page underlined the frustration of the supporters who haven’t taken too kindly to Juventus strengthening their great rivals this summer.

Milan won 3-0 today vs AEK Athens. Not a major accomplishment but better than stupid Inter or Liverpool. Hats off to Lyon for beating Madrid and congrats on the win, big Matt
ribz&ryder_connexion
BTW Matt did you ever see a video Figo speaking in front of the Sporting fans in the exhibition match vs Inter? It was made by a fan. Too funny lol. The Sporting announcer was like, "FIIIIIIIGO!" "SPORRRRTTTINNGGG!" and the fans all repeated lol too cool! biggrin.gif

Don't diss my Barca. We invest plenty in our own youth (allthough we do take from other teams as well).

Don't have to look far back to see what the Barcelona youth system has produced:

-The most promising young Spanish player, Francesc Fabregas.

-Quite arguably the best young player in the world right now, Lionel Messi.

--------------

Plus, it's not our fault the Portuguese teams seem to be so willing to give away any player that looks slightly promising. tongue.gif

What was Porto thinking giving Diego away for pennies...

pennies? lol so true!
still...15 million for a 17 year old kid whos worth 65 million at the age of 21...we got robbed...
and im not dissing barca, i actually like and respect barca. at least there not real madrid wink.gif laugh.gif
as for portuguese clubs selling there players...its pretty simple: in europe, for these talented players, if your not playing in spain, england, italy or france...then your not playing at all...
and the clubs cant do much when the players WANT to leave....*sigh*
we can only hope to keep them for 4 maybe 5 years. after that forget it lol
