If Fleury catches up to Price I will start a riot tongue.gif

There is less than a month left, and Price is up 72, 817 but at the rate Fleury is getting votes I wouldn't be suprised if he passes Price within the next week.

Fleury is so awful again this season, though, isn't he? How can he be catching up!? angry.gif

No we couldn't. laugh.gif

Seriously though, if Fleury surpasses Price because of the Pittsburgh fans voting, no one can give us heck about trying to get all of our players there. Fleury is awful, and has always been awful, except for last year's post-season run.
Boates
Come on Habs fans, lets get voting. Fleury is less than 70k behind Price. We can't allow him to take over the lead. Gonchar and Whitney aren't far behind Marky and Komy either. Not bad for being hurt I guess. GO vote Habs GO.
keithman
Umm...guys Fleury has been injured for a while now...so I don't know what you guys are talking about as in him being awful this year...he's been out for over a month's time or something like that.

With that said, he's a pretty good goalie, but Price by far deserves to go over him.

gonchar and whitney aren't even eligible to play in the all star game this year. they won't have played enough games. which leads me to ask, woudl Fleury have had enough games under his belt by jan 2nd?

we get docked votes because we use bots...
I think it's quite obvious that the pens fans are using scripts and bots...there is no way they caught up to us that quickly...

but i like how the nhl now embraces it and likes that the pens are leading..

Fleury has played 13 games, and Pittsburgh has 8 games left before January 2nd, so unless Fleury plays 7-of-8 which is unlikely, he is NOT ELIGIBLE!

The 20 games rule does NOT apply for established NHL'ers. A few weeks ago, the RDS guys asked the powers that be because of Komisarek's situation. They were told and reported that this 'rule' is in place to ensure that only NHL players are voted in, not rookies who have been sent down to junior or the minors by the time all is said and done.

Also, some VP in the Pens organisation explains that they e-mailed their fans (forum members and members of other distribution lists they may have) asking them to text vote for the Pens players. They also ran ads everywhere and had segments on radio stations. Unlimited texting packages are not as widely spread in Canada as they are in the US. Add that to the fact that you can easily vote for all six players without the one vote per minute constraint, text messaging explains in good part the truckloads of votes received by Cindy & Co.

Soooooooo.... if you can text, get at it! Unfortunately, I cant so I still throw in what has become an insignificant number of votes via the website.

imho, i understand what they're supposedly trying to prevent but established nhler or not it's silly to be eligible for the all star game when either you haven't played a single game in the season because of injury or you decided to saunter in after christmas because you felt like it (ahem neidermeyer) - and that should go for the voting panel as well as the fans.

for those of you texting: why do you think they're not being counted?

i hope we're planning a late-december push because it's really getting away from us now. dry.gif

i can't text either and the online voting feels very ineffective. sad.gif

This whole all-star voting thing is a joke, plain and simple... 2 injured defenseman almost being voted in? A goalie playing like crap almost getting voted in?? I have no issue if Crosby or Malkin make it in, they deserve it... If any of the Habs forwards get in it'll be a joke... Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Markov, ______, Price all desrve to be in if you ask me... Streit, Kuba, Green top the east under Markov for points... plain and simple, this is a huge joke... The reason i left komisarek out is because his style of play usually doesnt get in the all-star game... although i do think he is the best defenseman for his style

This allstar voting is crap like Carbo said the NHL should look into like they did for the Montreal votes with no hesitation, so why not do it for Pittsburgh because they are Americans no doubt...I honestly vote approximetly 40 to 50 times a day no joke all for Montreal and then you see a guy like Crosby which is a cry baby get like almost 300,000 in one day and no investigation being done....Face it folks the NHL don't want to see the anadiens there why because its being played in Montreal...As far as I'M concerned after last night's officiating screw the NHL AND THE OFFICIALS
LudaKrishna
revolt vs the nhl!
habs1963
I agree we should revolt against the NHL AND hopefully come Thursday game in Montreal that the fans will revolt against the ref's too and make them feel like EDIT or at least have sign that say OFFICIALS SUCK
Bourne
It will never happen however I would laugh immensely if no one showed up for the All Star game or Pittsburgh was booed horrendously. The latter is a possibility however the former would really be a shot at the NHL, letting them know we have ways of dealing with bias as well and it is costly.

That is interesting.

What's even more interesting is at the bottom of that page, one of the Moderators of the board is insulting the person that gave that viewpoint. Looks like someone can't deal with a little opposition.

Can't see it happening, unless Hab fans get access to unlimited free texting. By next week, it will be all Pens, except for the the third place forward. "PENGUINS" only means five Penguins, not six.

Actually, not a bad idea at all.

If the Canadian cellular service companies turned it on for a week, the Hab fans would (IMO) quicklly have the Hab players re-take the leads. This is in fact a disparate technological-based result (Pens > Habs).

Only way the Pens players aren't going to have 5 of the 6 positions -- can't "out vote" with simply more fans when the voting pace is on the order of 5 or 10 or 20 to 1. wink.gif . I know I haven't bothered clicking a vote on-line in a week or so, and I don't have unlimited free texting.
jennifer_rocket
I hope the NHL eliminates the fan voting next season. The only two Habs that really deserve to be on the starting roster are Andrei Markov (and maybe Price). Koivu should be there, but perhaps not on the starting roster. Ovechkin, Lacavlier, Crosby, Malkin... Those are the forwards who are the best in the East. Not Tanguay and Kovalev. ohmy.gif
mchabbymeal
hi everybody...( first post !! ) i've been following the all star debate since it started, and voting for the boys like crazy.

it was obvious that the difference was txt messaging. imo, there was not much of a chance for penguin fans to out-vote us using the nhl web site.

( it's too slow)

however, yesterday, i noticed that yahoo has a text message option, (free !!!) and it is unlimited !!

being pretty much computer illiterate, i could not get it to work. it was asking for some routing, or browser info that i did not understand.

i'm hoping that some of the faithful hab fans can check it out. if it works the way i think it does, and we can get the word out,

it would be sweet if we could turn this thing around. it may give us access to un-limited txt messaging. keeping my fingers crossed !!!
mchabbymeal

just to clarify my post above,

it's yahoo mail i was refering to,

and the claim is that you can send text messages from yahoo mail, to a phone number.

i'm assuming that means both land line or cell phone.

they also claim that only the recipient would pay txt message fee for a message that YOU sent.

and i believe it claims that you would not pay to receive a txt message ( incomming )

hope this helps !!

the text number would be the one the nhl is asking people to use when they text in to vote.

i'm not sure what exactly it is . all i did ( i have a yahoo e-mail acct. ) was try to set up yahoo's text message service.

i was not successful, thats why i'm asking you all for help. my suggestion wuold be to sign up for a yahoo acct. and see if you can get the

text option to work, and spread the word to the faithful, if it works !!!

wow. that's very interesting. the conspiracy continues. laugh.gif

from the forum admin:

Just a reminder to everyone that you can also vote by text message. You can either send the player's last name to 81812 or, even easier - simply text CANADIENS to 81812 to vote for all six at the same time. (Standard text messaging rates apply).

Looks like U.S. based test-message-voting is becoming de rigeur:
  • 'HAWKS' (Kane, Toews, Campbell) moving on up
  • 'DUCKS' (Getzlaf, Niedermeyer, Pronger, Giguere) moving on up
I am not expecting any Canadian-based team player to survive, except maybe a Hab forward, as 'CAPS' and 'BRUINS' don't appear to have the fan base in the U.S. I recognize that Luongo's injury is not helping him, but I do think the central story is that the "texting story" is out now.

I don't imagine those managing the ballot process ever contemplated that Canadians don't have the same access as Americans to unlimited free texting, nor considered (or cared) that texting is considerably more efficient than browser clicking.

I wouldn't bother browser clicking anymore -- it is like racing your jalopy against a Ferrari.

it has already been established that the 20 game rule only applies to rookies. Established NHLs don't even need to play one game in order to play in the All Star Game.

Just checked the numbers once again and it looks like Fleury is only a little more than 40,000 votes behind Price now.
