Honestly does anyone truly care that much? While I was disappointed by the results in the sense it would have been awesome to see an all Habs start; nonetheless the All Star games are boring as sin from my perspective, neither team tries whatsoever as they want to avoid injury for the actual important games. So what does it matter if Crosby makes or Koivu? Personally I am glad Koivu did not since he can now use this time to relax and remain in top shape going into the final stretch of the season.
Of course this is only my opinion, I just never find the all star games all that grand.

I really like the all star skills, the game is ok but the all star skills is to die for.
Congrats to all of the players who will be playing in the game but more importantly congrats to all of the fans who voted for their favorite stars, especially those who voted almost religiously.
I think we seriuously screwed this up...Instead of voting in Habs players we should have voted in the top players in the East... Now here is where this makes sense... On the WEST side we get the biggest biggest hitters (even lend them Komisarek) in the West to destroy the Eastern team... Maybe perhaps then other teams will have to deal with the same injuries we have

What if the coaches of every team were to submit three eligible players, one forward, one defenseman and one goaltender, and the voting was turned over to the fans from there, with only the highest vote getter from each team going to the game. That's 15 players towards the roster.
Set a requirement of 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 3 goaltenders.

I think this year more than ever really showed the flaw in the fan voting system. Sure I like Komisarek, but should he be a starter? Kovalev over Ovechkin? The west too, no Sharks, no Wings??

Don't forget to add Carey Price to that list: 18th in save percentage, 16th in goals against, 7th in wins and 1 measily shutout -- Lundqvist, Miller and Thomas are all more deserving.

Guys like you make me laugh. Voting takes absolutely no effort if you have a cellphone with unlimited texting, you can text while you're doing other things once you get the hang of it. Somehow I knew people were going to come here and try to say "zomg u hav no lyfe u waste so much tyme voteeng" while if their favourite players won they'd say NOTHING.

First of all, i dont believe Fans should be involved with the voting.
It should be a reward for the players and hence should be mostly based on stats. You take the top scorer off the top 12 teams and that makes up your roster.
You then take the top 6 offensive Dmen and the top 3 goalies and that makes up your team.

Where do you get your stats from? Are you counting stats from goalies who don't qualify because they haven't played enough? Carey is 10th in sv% and 9th in GAA and of the goalies infront of him, only Backstrom has played more games.
Also LOL since you're so obsessed with stats why not mention that both Lundqvist and Miller's numbers are worse than Carey's, so why exactly are they deserving based on your statistical analyisis?
Some people don't get it, if you don't like the results vote more next year or don't watch, it's open to fan voting and this is what you get.

Kovalev being a starter I can understand with the way the system is, but how does Crosby beat Ovechkin for a spot??

I don't know about you but from the ASG's that I've watched in the past the coach behind the bench does one thing and one thing only. He makes up the lines and that's about it. Oh, and he gets to smile as often as he can. There's no 'scrubs' and 4 lines will roll.

See this guy here gets it. The stars of the league are gonna go to the big game no matter what. Ovechkin doesn't need to be voted in to have a place on the all-star team. The voting is so WE THE FANS, can see who WE THE FANS, want to see. If it was about who's the best point getter and all that biz there would be no vote. They would just scroll down the Top point totals and pick the top east players and the top west players. Kovalev being there makes perfect sense, the all star game has his name written all over it. This is where you will see the entertainment value. But I digress. I think the vote is the perfect way for the fans to get to see players they ACTUALLY WANT to see, who might not be having the best season of their careers. Hats off to the fans who voted, this should be a fun, young, All-Star game!

Bro if your not happy with the starting line up then blame your self and other fans for not voting more. Its a fan vote format thats not new. In the end Ovechkin and Thomas will make the team anyways..
And some Leaf will make the team because somebody has to from each team and that player will be underserving because the whole team sucks.

Mark Streit might be putting up points but id hardly call him All-star material. You can look at Kovalev as undeserving if you so please but he was a player on the ropes of last years team and bleeds every skill the fans love to see in the competitions. Komisarek, albeit not really all-star material, is an excellent defenceman who has stood at the top of two major defensive stats since becoming an established NHL'er. Also, at least Price is a decent goalie. Would you have honestly preferred to see MAF starting for the East? We are not talking about horrific players here. Whatever Leafs player is lucky enough to make the roster will be less deserving then any of the Habs.

Look for Markov to win the one-timer competition again. (an underrated skill IMO as most NHL'ers do not posess it at all)
Kovalev could virtually win any shooting, stick handling, or scoring competition.
Price for the best record in the 2/3 on 0 competition.
Komi to throw the first hit of the all-star game.

Hope this isn't deemed as inflammatory, but have the leafs really poured much of a foundation since '67? I think they need a new contractor, not sure if Puffy Hair has it in him, should've hired Mike Holmes, or that Extreme Home Makeover team for a full demolition and reb-build.
