Should be a good game, win this one for Andrei!

I wonder if anyone can answer a question for me?Unfortunately i'll be stuck in Hell-hole City(AKA Toronta!)for a few days and ,I'm not sure if the Hotel we'll be staying in will have RDS available. Is RDS a hard thing to hope for in LAFF-Land?I really would love to be able to watch the game tomorrow night even if I am in Newmarket. What are my chances/options?

From my experience in quite a few hotels in Laff land, no RDS. You can watch their online feed from rds.ca if the hotel has high speed internet in the room (most of them do) and of course if you have a laptop with you and can spare the 3 bucks get the game.

Nice, attractive game thread. Nathan Horton looks like he has bad pepperoni breath. Anyway, The Pans are weak offensively, not tooooo bad defensively, good goaltending though. I think smart plays and discipline will win this game, plus I think Halak is itching to get out there after a week on the bench so expect a good game from him. The Sergei/Pleks/Kovy line WILL be a success in this game, just you watch. It will be nice to see Higgins back but I won't be expecting too solid of a game from him as he missed most of the exhibition games, also the rest of the league has about a week and a half's worth of regular season game action.

Apparently Andrei is doing well, he is also 'functioning' properly according to Carbo and he hasn't had headaches. Very good news.

CRB, you make the best game threads by far, I'm in awe. You can log my username and create my GDT next time so you can make me look good (it'll be our little secret)

Habs should beat the Panthers, I predict 4-2

I am, unfortunately, attending this game.

"Unfortunately?" you question. huh.gif

Well, you see, I have never seen the Habs win any time I am attending the game.

Hopefully I can break my curse from 2007-2008, and see them win for the first time!

GO HABS GO!

Seriously though, I am super pumped to see this game live! I hear it's also free magnetic calender night. That would two years in a row I had tickets for that night. Awesome! biggrin.gif
hofo_mofo
Indeed, I hope Higgins plays...but alas the boy needs to heal! Go Tatu! Dah I mean Higgins! happy.gif

LOL that's ok, my brother said the same thing when we started going this year. They won every game wink.gif (well, except that one against the Wild in preseason, but does that really count? It was free anyway)

It's also Centennial Jersey Night #1!!! I wish I could be there sad.gif Oh well.. TV it is!

I am really looking forward to watching my Montreal Canadiens go for 5 wins in a row!

The boys will be pumped up and ready to go I am sure. They saw on Saturday that when they skate and make smart passes, they will dominate teams!

GO HABS GO!

Very nice gameday thread ColRouléBleu!

Hoping for an easy win for this game, and is it definate that Jaro is starting between thi pipes for this one?

It will be hard to see Higgins on the third line as he's one of my favourite players, but there is not much we can do...Tanguay is playing so well.

the panthers always seem to give us a hard time...i have no idea why but vokoun plays like unbelievable against us.
higgins is one of my favs too, but i think he will do very well on the third. and when sergie drops back down, that line will be killer MMW!

To go a little deeper, I'm pretty sure the Panthers are the only team to have an all-time winning record vs the Habs. That being said, I just can't imagine losing to the Panthers right now.
moe181
I think we played the panthers well last year (we won 3 of the 4?) so hopefully we can keep that going this year.

GO HABS GO!

One of the best game threads I've ever seen. Nice job, CRB!

Hopefully the Panthers in the post-Jacques Martin era won't be the cure for insomnia they've been the past few years.
MikeCammalleri13
I'll be at the game with my girlfriend. Too bad Halak is playing, she loves seeing Carey play and we don't get many chances to see games at the Bell Centre. I hope they don't play Halak every single time we go to a game.

We will be sitting in the back row of the arena. At least now there's a silver lining to sitting the furthest possible away from the ice, the Ring of Honor.
MTL
We always seem to have a hard time with these Panthers. Vokoun comes out strong every single time... The good news is that I dreamed that we won this game with ease.

Lets go boys!

Will be at the game tonight and hope the Habs wreck the Panthers.
And I hope our solid goaltending continues!!

Does anyone know if Begin is in the lineup? and..

Does anyone have a photo of the jersey they will be wearing tonight?

Can't waqit to see Higgis back in the line up..

And BTW he isn't going to get traded. That Gaborik deal makes no sence..

Higgins, Halak and a 1st Ha not happening..

We would still not have cap space so we would have to let go of Begin, Dandineult and Boullion some how as well..

So now it basicly becvomes

Higgins (possible 30 Goal man, Leader tupe charecter guy, 2 way player)
Halak (Insurance for Price.. Now Marcd Denis becomes are back up this guy stunk badly last year)
1st round pick (For a draft being held in Montreal no less and we already moved a 2nd round pick)
Begin (Charecter player, energey guy, Gritty)
Boullion (good hitting defensive d-man we lose depth)
Danineault (again depth guy hello Briesbios to the every day line up?)

for

Marion Gaborik? (how many games will he play 60? When will the groin kick out right before the playoffs? He is the most tallent player in this deal for sure but do we really need him? We where the highest scoring team in the NHL last year and we already added Tanguay and Lang who are playing great... don't you need charecter and defence as well?

And then there is the contract problems? The guy is going to get 8-10 mil a year and we already have to resign Komisarek, Tanguay, Kovalev,Koivu, Plekanec ect ect ect..

Forgett this deal Garborik is awesome but its not the right move.

anyways back to the game looking foward to it can't wait for Halak to show us yet again why we can not think about tradding him.. Also looking foward to seeing Latendresse continue his great start 1 goal and a helper coming for Gui tonight!

As a member of the 9 concussion club, that is great news.

Canadiens should destroy these guys, but Voukon plays extra hard against the Canadiens. Maybe he's still bitter biggrin.gif

The 3rd line looks really good on paper. Heck they all do. No one will touch us this year.

Higgins is questionable according to TSN.
Could it be related to the Gaborik's deal talk?

very possible, i would think more highly of the trade if halak wasnt playing as well. I really can't see them trading away higgins although it has reached more people then eklund. (rds).. anyways great thread and can't wait to watch this game. Which jerseys are they wearing?

Flying Lion

Ahhh, another game vs. the Panthers. Only team with a winning record against the Habs, I think. I don't feel as nervous going into this game as I did during the previous season. The Team seems to be doing a lot of the right things and minimizing the mistakes.

What's with all this Gaborik stuff?!? Not sure what I think of that. I don't think it's necessary but noone asked my opinion. I'll leave it up to the powers that be.

Anyway, GO HABS GO! 60 minutes, all out, nothing less!

Euh...the article on RDS says:

Christopher Higgins va disputer son premier match de la saison. Il sera intégré dans le troisième trio, à la gauche de Robert Lang et Tom Kostopoulos.

meaning he will play...

Edit: Nevermind, I read other sources that say he wont play...
Matariel
According to TSN:

Projected Lines

Forwards:
Latendresse - Koivu - Tanguay
S. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Begin - Lang - Kostopoulos
Chipchura - Lapierre - Dandenault
Scratches: A. Kostitsyn (upper body),
Laraque (groin), Higgins (groin)

Defence:
Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Bouillon - Gorges
Scratch: Brisebois

Goaltender:
Halak
Price

IF IT WERE ME, I'd bump Chipchura on Lang'S left, and put Begin on the 4th line. Chipchura has more of an offensive flair, and a better all-round vision and play than does Begin. It would further profit Lang and would stick to the "more offensive than defensive" concept that Carbo's trying to implement on the 3rd line. But hey, I wish i was Carbo, I'm not however
habsgal
Very nice game thread. biggrin.gif
I am really pleased with Carbo's decision on injecting Halak in the line-up every 4 games or so. It saves on 'burnout' re Carey and besides, Halak is very capable of handling what's thrown at him. And it keeps both pumped up for when either gets the call. Yup, I like what the staff are doing in this regard.

I sure hope that those trade rumors are false. I want Higgy to remain a Hab - this being his favorite team growing up in New York.

In any event - GO HABS GOOOOOOO!
jennifer_rocket
With all of the kafuffle being generated about the Higgins trade, the board has actually got me worried/nervous about something going down.

WAY TO GO, GUYS! angry.gif laugh.gif

I am actually disappointed that I am not going to see Carey Price, Andrei Kostitsyn, Chris Higgins, and Georges Laraque play tonight. I was really hoping to see Laraque live for this first time. Oh well, at least I get to see Kovy work some magic, Captain K., and a couple of new additions in Tanguay/Lang. smile.gif
Habsgirl3823
All the Higgins trade talk isn't sitting well with me. There's no way they could give up Higgy, Halak, AND a draft pick for Gaborik... could they? It doesn't make sense to me... but I'm no NHL GM. I really hope this is all rumors, and everything gets cleared up one way or another.

Okay. As for the game tonight. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll probably miss the first period due to work, but I'm planning on rushing home to catch the rest.

What the heck is up with the groins locker room? Either they have some creepy pre-game rituals, or else just some really bad luck tongue.gif

Can't speak to any specific case, but more generally, it can often be traced wholly or largely to poor pre-season preparation. Core muscle work needed to be done before stepping on the ice; this would include "the plank" stance, some kinetic work, and possibly some roller blading in the summer. You just can't golf for 2-3 months, do some jogging / bike-riding and then expect to step through the bech door and start cutting ice with the blades of your skates. The core muscles, especially the groin, take a lot of the strain, and if you don't prepare them you risk straining / tearing them. I can't help but think Higgy didn't prepare well enough. It's really boring work, but it's got to be done.

Not sure this was what Lang was dreaming about as he drove up from Chicago upon hearing of his trade. wink.gif

I see your point looking at it offensively / meshing. However, Carbo may be going more on "reliability / experience", in providing Begin with scope for more ice time. Glad Chips is finally in though. Tough always trying and not getting to play.
KOVALUV
very nice seeing chips get some icetime in the big. I believe that carbo will make the change and put chips with lang ans nonstop. Do people agree it should be; chip-lang-kostop? And it would have been really nice to see pacioretty play but i'm just as happy with chipchura

Glad to see Captain K tearing it up so far, great start so far

There was quite a few people on here before the season started saying that he shouldn't be the captain anymore
that he lost his speed and skill. I hope he won some of those people back. Glad to see that line clicking so quickly

Now we have 2 dangerous line and a great 3rd line and a good 4th line

I say habs win 2-1, low scoring game cause Florida plays that lame style of hockey
mvp9
I have feeling that Plekanec will have a big game.
DA_Champion
No Carey Price, No Andrei Kostitsyn, No George Laraque, and probably no Christopher Higgins... these guys are seeing the closest thing to the Canadiens B team that has gone out this season, I predict we'll still win, 5-1 :-)
