MONTREAL -- Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Wednesday the signing of free agent right-winger Mike Glumac to a one-year, two-way contract (2008-09). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Glumac, 28, played with the AHL Peoria Rivermen in 2007-08, ranking sixth on the team in scoring with 49 points in 75 games (21 goals, 28 assists), along with 99 penalty minutes. He also played in four games with the St. Louis Blues.
Glumac (6-foot-2, 201 pounds), played in 40 career regular season games in the NHL, all with the Blues, including 33 games during the 2006-07 season. He collected 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and 38 penalty minutes. He has scored 244 points (113 goals, 131 assists) in 323 career games in the American Hockey League.
A native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Glumac joined the Blues as a free agent on October 6, 2003. He spent four seasons with Miami-Ohio University in the CCHA from 1998 to 2002. He was named to the East Coast Hockey League All-Rookie Team in 2003, while with the Pee Dee Pride.

AHL vet with some NHL experience. Should be a good player for our younger players in Hamilton to learn from. He gives us some veteran depth too.

Seems like a good depth/character player that are important at the AHL level.

I maybe mistaken with thinking that AJ Baines was the captain of the Bulldogs last season.With his apparent departure perhaps Glumac could be a good choice for that role this season. Glad to see some veteran payers being added to the team this season as we have a lot of 1st and 2nd year players on the Hamilton roster. He also has 40 games of NHL experience so maybe under the right circumstance he could make an apperance in Montreal if they run into major injury issues.

Mike Glumac is on a three game goal scoring streak and has potted 7 in his last 13 games.

Montreal re-signed Mike Glumac to a one year, two-way deal, following a productive 08-09 season in Hamilton, where he netted 33 goals (52 points) in 66 games for the B-Dogs.
With Montreal's depth at centre, or lack thereof, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility to see Mike in a Habs jersey at some point next season, if only for a cup of coffee.
FYI: The last real NHL action he saw was a 33 game stint with the Blues in 06-07.

I was looking around on Youtube trying to find out if Glumac was a true fighter. He doesn't appear to be, or I imagine he would have stuck around in the league a little longer than he has. Just brainstorming if Glumac might be a sizeable replacement for Laraque... But he doesn't appear to be. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Moen replaces Kostopoulos! Can Glumac fill a roster spot too?

He had 33 goals in 66 games last season for Hamilton which was good for 6th overall in the AHL.

Glumac is definitely not a fighter by trade, but he is a big, strong Canadian boy who is not afraid to drop the gloves if necessary.
As far as offense is concerned, his NHL potential is unknown, but at least we know he can light it up in the junior circuit.
