I was hoping if anything we would have taken Maxime Tanguay from Rimouski, but from what this guy says about himself it sounds like he figures himself as comparable too Antoine Vermette from the Sens, which sounds good too me because I really like the way Vermette plays, very fast skater, who has some skill and a good two way player

He just turned 18 in May too. So he played the season as a 17 year old. Not bad stats for a guy on the 2nd to last place team in the QMJHL. He was only a minus 8 too.

something kind of neat to think about: this kid is now the last remaining piece of the Linden/Zubrus trade. With Bulis and Perezhogin leaving for nothing, that 3rd pick we got for Zednik turned into Fortier.
Maybe that's just stupid, but I find it minorly interesting.

3rd round (65th overall) Rimouski Oceanic, QMJHL 5’11, 168 pounds, DOB: May 2, 1989
The first of Montreal’s two third-round selections, obtained in the Richard Zednik trade with Washington, was used on a player who is the polar opposite of the mercurial, streaky player for whom the pick was traded
Olivier Fortier enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Oceanic this year, accounting for 28 goals and 36 assists in 69 games. And while the offense is nice, it’s the other parts of his game that really excite the Canadiens.
“At every level he plays, his coaches can’t say enough good things about him,” Timmins said. “They know each and every time he steps on the ice what they’re going to get. He’s a low-maintenance player. He’s a solid two-way player – I can’t say he has any real weaknesses.”
In fact, Timmins sees a lot of a current Hab in him.
“He’s got that twinkle in his eye – he’s going to be a player,” he said. “The last guy that I saw with that look was Maxime Lapierre.”
Fortier is in great shape – unfortunately it’s the wrong one. “His dad is a marathon runner, so he’s been training along the lines of cardio and fitness levels. That will be adjusted,” Timmins explained.
Like Lapierre, Fortier has a solid perspective on what his long-term role will be.
“I think in the NHL I’ll be on the fourth line or third line, because of my defensive game,” Fortier said. “But I also have some offensive skill so I can jump on the first two lines. I’m a two-way player. I’ll do what I have to do to play.”

Saw him play last night, he was solid in his own end but didn't do too much offensively.

Fortier had to leave the game in the 3rd period last night after getting hit on the ankle by the puck, he didn't return. It looked pretty painful..

Good numbers this season. 7 short-handed goals!! OK, Well I see Olivier is who Habs picked with the pick they got from Washington, for Zednik: Round 3 (# 65 - Montreal traded RW Richard Zednik to Washington for Washington's 3rd-round pick in 2007.)
Draft # 65 - Olivier Fortier © Rimouski (QMJHL)Picked him just ahead of Yannick Weber. Two good prospects in the same round. Weber playing great in Kitchener in OHL.

Good numbers this season. 7 short-handed goals!! He played on the U18 Canadian team last year that lost to fellow Hab prospect Nichlas Torp and the rest of the Swedes in the Bronze Medal Game...He is a fast moving two way forward who likes to play the style of Antoine Vermette of the Sens....thats awesome that he had 7 short handed goals and that he won the Carbonneau award http://www.habsprospects.com/modules.php?n...icle&sid=85according to this he is to go along with winning the Guy Carbonneau trophy as best defensive forward he was also named captain for next years Rimouski team and we will see alot of Fortier next year with Rimouski getting the rights to the Memorial Cup Tourney which is great news.....
