I see Saku doing good things this year.
He's a big part of the team and great inspiration not only to those on the team and in the NHL but to his fans, both young and old.
He needs to step up and score more, but he's never been much of a scorer, he's been a playmaker. And I can't start criticizing his lack of scoring now.

This guy has gone through so much in his career, I really tip my hat for him to attempt yet another courageous comeback after a serious eye injury! That's heart and dedication!
Like many, I had my doubt about his leadership abilities but those doubts quickly vanished after Gainey (a former captain, great leader) signed him after having discussions with Carbonneau (another former captain, great leader). I trust that those two know a thing or two about leadership and they were in the dressing room and on the road with the guy and still signed him instead of letting walk as a free agent.
I'll never forget that he replied to my email when I wished him the best in his fight with cancer... class act. I'll also never forget his ovation in Montreal the night of his comeback from this aweful illness. Good luck Saku in January, I'm confident you will have beaten the toughess competition when you get your final test.
In hope that he gets his chance to hold the Cup up high as the Habs' captain before he retires! 8)

I agree with you on this, I like him because he loves the kids of Montreal and not only the kids everyone out there, I know and I see alot of love in that guy on the ice and off, he is such a great true Captin he's the best!, althought I dont live there I think he is my Hero!.

I hope that he gets his chance to hold the CUP up high as the Habs Captian as well before he retires, we just got to show more support and let him know he can do this, I know he is better than great. We all have to believe in him and those other. I think they can finally get it. I really do BELIEVE!

Saku is what every player strives to be. A great player on the ice and an even better person off it. Whenever anyone ever feels like they cant do something, they should just take a look at Saku. Months after cancer he comes back and leads the boys to an upset win over the Bruins in the playoffs. Are u kiddin me? I have no doubt that he will retire a a Hab and I do hope one day his #11 makes it into the rafters because he deserves it

But he will be immortalized in Habs history

Having your number retired isnt all about numbers! For example look at Terry O'Reily with the Boston Bruins...He had what 600 points in his career but his number is retired for one of the original 6 clubs...His number was retired because he was the Boston Bruins...You have to look at everything. Saku entered the league in the clutching and grabbing stages when noone was putting up big numbers so you cant fault him for that. In the last 20-25 years how many people do you think Montreal will decide to put in the rafters? Roy is a given but after him who? Montreal will def. take a loooong look at putting Saku's number up there and I think he had a great chance. If they win the cup with him on the team then its a 100% chance.

i think saku is probably the most important player for the habs (not to take anything away from markov and others). some people complain he's not putting up big numbers, but his importance is way beyond numbers. his heart, dedication, leadership, things you can't measure, but you need them as much as you need numbers

It's amazing what an impact this man has on peoples lives. I'm yet to meet a hockey fan who has anything bad to say about him. Most of my friends are leaf fans and they all tell me that Koivu is the only reason they tolerate the Habs haha. I love that we have a captain that's more then just a player. He's the heart and soul.
